Frametag Media now supporting independent writers at Words on the Waves

In 2023 Frametag Media became the inaugural digital publishing sponsor for the annual Words on the Waves independent Writers festival held on the New South Wales Central Coast. To celebrate our excitement, we’ve put together a smorgasbord of options to help independent writers promote that work while remaining independent.

It is an honour to support our independent writers with both print and digital publishing services. Read on to see how Frametag Media can writers promote and sell their work.

Don’t be overwhelmed by the plethora of options you have with digital, at Frametag Media we can help you choose exactly what you’ll need.

  • Book publishing and printing. OK let’s get this one our way first. Yes, as a media company we do traditional book publishing, printing and distribution which we believe is still relevant in today’s digital economy. There is definitely an affinity humans have with books compared with digital information sources and that’s not about to change anytime soon. Digital publishing now compliments traditional print and there are many options for writers to get on board digital without leaving print completely behind.
  • WordPress web sites. With so much social media flying around – and being manipulated – it is important for independent writers to have their own sovereign voice online. With WordPress independent riders have access to a powerful but easy to use digital publishing system that can be their own channel to their readers. With WordPress you can have your own digital identity including apps but help you promote your work. And if you’ll big on social, don’t stress you can always integrate WordPress with your favourite social network. One of our independent songwriter customers Daniel Flynn has done a great job of promoting his personal brand through his own WordPress site including links to social networks like Spotify and YouTube. Daniel is online at https://danielflynnmusic.com.
  • Social media accounts and data integration. As mentioned above you can use social media as part of your digital publishing mix. Talk to us about social media management tools that make it easier to post an interact with your readers and other options for keeping a sovereign copy of the data that you share with the social networks.
  • Graphic design. If you are a writer but not a designer talk to us about getting your personal brand and publications fit for both print and digital publication channels. We see a lot of modern brands forgetting (or were they even aware of?) the graphics specs for printing are different to those for digital and even Pantone colours are still widely in use for printed products such as merchandise.
  • eBook creation and publishing. This post is about digital publishing so I suppose we should mention eBooks. We can publish your eBooks across numerous channels including selling them from your own website to give you an option away from the big eBook peddlers. We can also publish in common eBook formats in addition to PDFs and HTML for the web.
  • Flipbook publishing. If you don’t know what a flipbook is then we should really run it by you now. Flipbooks allow visitors and regular readers to “turn the pages” of a book digitally. When someone visits your site they can flip through a flipbook to get a feel of what the physical book is like flip books are great for samples as you can share a few introductory pages of your book and link it to a paid download on your own site.
  • Video and audio production. One of the best ways to promote your personal brand and work it with video and audio. We can come to you or any location and do on-site filming and then the post-production. Video also helps you reach a much wider audience through the web and social channels like YouTube.
  • Digital subscriptions. This leads us to digital subscriptions. Independent riders have many options for digitising and monetizing their work through digital subscriptions. There’s really no limit to what you can sell on a subscription, from single publications all the way to VIP club memberships.
  • eCommerce and online stores. As mentioned with WordPress sites and digital subscriptions we can help you establish your own ecommerce store to sell anything physical or digital to your audience. This includes physical books ebooks subscriptions memberships and merchandise. You can always use other e-commerce channels of course but having your own e-commerce store and identity helps you remain independent.
  • Merchandise. Merchandise is something that can complement any brand and there are plenty of products writers can include with a book launch or event. Ask us about the many options for Australian made merchandise and how we can help with producing the right artwork for it.
  • Webinars. Book launches are awesome but what about digital? We can help you make your next book launch a virtual one or a hybrid where you are physically at a location but also live stream over the web without having to setup any software or services. Webinars are great for virtual book launches and general Q&A sessions.
  • General data integration. It’s worth mentioning we are highly skilled at general digital integration and getting data from one place to another and back again. If you like something to be smoother and more automated than what it is we’ll happily take a look.

We look forward to meeting you at this year’s words on the waves festival and would be delighted to help any independent writer produce and promote their work.
